Our client, a passionate antique furniture collector, gardener and lover of colour and the countryside wanted to redesign and decorate a neglected 19th-century country house in Co. Kildare to make it suitable for modern family life. Our brief was to create interiors in a classic style that respected the proportions and original features of this period property, while also ensuring that the finish was homely, warm and inviting.

A new kitchen extension and living area were added to open the house to the garden. The first floor guest bedrooms were redesigned to create spaces befitting the existing proportions of the house. In the master bedroom a freestanding bed head was designed so the owners could better enjoy the stunning views of the countryside. Lighting design was a key element in adding aesthetic interest as well as functional light for household tasks.
